Some of the things that we accomplish for our clients who have been arrested and charged with violent crimes:

• If the case cannot be dropped, determine whether it can be reduced to a lesser charge (for instance, from a felony to a misdemeanor)

• Investigate and find weaknesses in the State's case

• Determine whether there are defense witnesses who help our case

• Look for exculpatory information (evidence tending to prove that the defendant is innocent

• Meet with the defendant discuss a strategy and course of action for fighting the case

• Develop mitigation evidence and consider hiring a mitigation expert depending on the severity of the charges

• Handle depositions of state witnesses, police, and detectives

• Prepare any relevant motions to dismiss or suppress evidence

• Negotiate with the prosecutor to get the best deal possible if trial is not an option

• Prepare all defense witnesses (and possibly the defendant) for trial

• Communicate with our client regularly with updates about the case
